My position on parking:

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea continues to be the destination in Broward County that everyone enjoys. Over the past 6 years, businesses have come into Town and opened their doors. Over 15 businesses were able to open thanks to the parking exemption program that I led the creation of while on the Planning and Zoning Committee. I worked with Town staff and lobbied the commission to pass the program that has been a great success.  We also implemented the ordinance that allowed for paid private parking at locations such as the SunTrust building.

Last year, an expert parking consultant provided the Commission with a study on our parking situation. The result of the study was that

  • There is no parking problem
  • A parking garage would be a bad financial investment

Lauderdale-By-The-Sea does not have a parking problem; we have momentary parking congestion during peak times. We also have plenty of unused additional parking locations that can be utilized.

I will vote against the purchase of an apartment building for $3million just to tear it down. This property has a 25+ payback and a terrible waste of taxpayer money. My opponent wants to buy this property and said nothing is off the table regarding a parking garage. This could lead to debt and/or higher taxes. The commission is one vote away from buying the apartment building, don’t let the Commission waste $3million dollars.

Thank you to the residents over the past two days that have opened their doors to discuss the important issues in this election.

This election is about ensuring that all residents can continue to enjoy our town and low taxes. The third lowest millage rate in Broward comes from being debt free and saving money.

My opponent and I have a clear difference on the issue of spending and taxes.

– I will not vote to buy an apartment building and tear it down for $3million dollars.
– I will not buy the marina or give away Town land.
– I will not put sewers on private property for over $4million dollars.

I have a record for fighting against wasteful projects while my opponent stated at the debate that he wants to do many of the projects that will cause taxes to rise.

On March 15th, residents have a choice and I promise that a vote for me means our taxes stay low. I hope to get your vote.

Please watch the entire debate starting at minute 56 at LBTS-FL.gov to see how stark the difference is.

The pier, pelicans and our beach. These are the joys of living in Lauderdale-By-The-Sea with family and what makes me passionate about running for office. The quality of life for our families is the number one issue for the commission to take into account. ‪#‎LBTS‬

Spoke with friends in Terra Mar and had a great time walking around the Island with the family. The Town and residents working together to improve their neighborhoods with calm streets. An example of what we can achieve in our other neighborhoods as well. Terra Mar is home of our great Mayor, Scot Sasser!

10 years ago, Lauderdale-By-The-Sea was hit by Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma knocking down trees and weeklong power outages. As an LBTS volunteer firefighter, we drove through the neighborhoods distributing ice and water and clearing trees from the roadways.

Being part of the LBTS VFD is something that I will always remember and is core to our community! The VFD provides an incredible service to our Town and I am proud to have been a part of it. ‪#‎volunteerfiredepartment‬
